Easter - Take One!

What a crazy week! With some planned renovations to our kitchen last week, Jason and I started on Tuesday, and took off all cabinet door and drawers for some major clean up and painting. On Wednesday we had granite countertops installed, with a gorgeous new single-basin sink and faucet. Wednesday night, we worked on cabinets and sanded, cleaned, primed, etc. Thursday evening, we sanded, cleaned, painted the first coat. Work, work, work! But all was going swimmingly, and we were so excited for our newish kitchen!

Jason and I had two really late nights W and Th, ending our work around 2am both days. All done in the evenings following our normal work days. Somehow, in moving the fridge around Thursday night, the tiny little hose that runs into the fridge for water and ice sprung a leak. That tiny little leak ran all night. The next morning (Friday), we had a flood in our kitchen and unfinished side of the basement. After 8 hours of cleanup, and many, many trips up and down the stairs, we have a dry basement. And a gorgeous kitchen. So, when it came time to relax and enjoy the Easter weekend in Toledo, we were BEYOND excited! We headed up Saturday morning, after another 2am bedtime the night before in finishing up all the drawers, cabinets and hardware installation.

A casual cookout Saturday night, the Easter festivities began Sunday morning with a trip to Jason’s childhood church, St. Joan of Arc with the grandparents, aunt/uncle and cousins. For a 2-hour service, Emerson did great! After church, we tried to get a few pictures while everyone was still dressed up, then out for an Easter egg hunt. Emerson was only crawling this time last year, and not especially into looking for eggs. After a little guidance this year, and the help of his cousins, he got the concept and loved looking for eggs!

The weather was gorgeous, and after a yummy meal by Auntie Mel, we sat outside for hours watching the kids play and enjoying the sunshine. Emerson especially loved playing basketball with his cousins. He must have shot a few hundred times. And made a lot! We drove back to Columbus Saturday night, and were all completely worn out! This week, we’re catching up on life a little after the mayhem with the kitchen, basement, and Easter weekend. And of course, looking forward to doing this all again with the Linebergers on Sunday!

Goofin' around Saturday night

Almost got all four of them in a picture! Emerson is clearly too busy doing yard work.
