Facetime with Kansas!

This blog has nothing to do with Emerson. I guess I could tell you that he was upstairs in bed while all of this was going on. There, it's about Emerson.

We had some friends over at the end of the summer to eat, drink and play games. Midway, we were really missing the Sheppards. They moved to Kansas about a year ago, and game nights just haven't been the same since. So, we Facetimed them in.

Can you see Andrew's iPhone resting against the plant? There's Donald and Beth.

Terra's holding a Taboo clue card for Donald while the boys listen intently.

Hey, Don and Beth! Love you guys!

First trip to the dentist!

I've had one of those weeks where I feel like I'm rushing everywhere I go. I'm using my lunchtimes to run errands, which makes for a crumby keyboard, since I'm eating half my meals over it. I'm stopping off at places in the evenings before I pick up Emerson, since errands with him aren't easy right now. Appointment. After appointment. After appointment. This includes doc appointments, hair appointments, dentist appointments. Why do these always fall within the same couple of weeks? You might think I like getting my hair done, or that it's pampering. I don't. And it's not. I love the results, but I don't love the 2.5 hours it takes out of my life every time I go.

One of our appointments this week, that Jason and I both made time for, was Emerson's first dental appointment! We went to a pediatric dentist, who came highly recommended. And I can see why! They are great with kids, and Emerson loved it. He's in the no-cavity club, like one of his parents. (Me. Heehee.) He's doing a great job brushing, and we'll head back in 6 months!

Checking out his new toothbrush.

Patiently sitting!

Too cool for school.

Sunsets in the 'hood

We've had some really amazing sunsets the past few weeks, and one was especially beautiful. The sky looked like it was on fire! I often think photos are best when there's an actual subject in them. More meaningful, blah blah blah. So, I asked Emerson to stand on the patio so I could get a picture. Below is the sequence of shots.

I can't be certain what he's doing here, but I believe he may be doing "the sprinkler."

"Em, just stand there."

"No...no gang signs."

This is as good as it gets. You can see why I hire the pros to take our photos. With this character, we clearly need dozens to choose from.

Pelotonia 11

Last year, Emerson loved cheering on Jessica during her 100-mile bike ride from Columbus to Athens. So, we prepped our signs, and headed out again this year!

My little worker bees.

A masterpiece! Auntie Jeeka will surely love it.

Emerson, not quite awake that next morning. How cool is Jason's sign?!?!

And there she is!

Way to go, Jess!

Block Party

It's been a month since I last blogged. So many excuses, really...Lost the camera cord. End of Summer. Back to school time (professionally --- Emerson is always in school). Finishing the basement. It really has been a busy time, lately. More to come on all of this.

Wrapping up August, we had a block party, our first since we've moved to the new house. We have great neighbors! Lots of good visiting, activities for the kids...and we just strolled home after!

Emerson, showing his off-court talents for a darling little red-head.

Football with Sarah!

Evening hoops with the Amos boys.

Emerson loved playing nighttime basketball...in the street!
