Pelotonia

Last weekend was full of excitement! In addition to front row, right behind home plate seats tickets to the Sunday Clippers game (totally awesome time!), we spent time in the Lancaster area on Saturday cheering on Jess in the Pelotonia. She rode 100+ miles in support of cancer research. So proud of her accomplishment! And, as Emerson's sign said...

Denim diapers. All the cool kids have them!

Courtesy of our very fashionable nanny, Amy, Emerson has the newest toddler trend, denim diapers! What can one do in denim diapers, really has no limit. Here's Emerson's top five denim diaper activities.

1. Strike a pose.

2. Somersaults, or as Emerson likes to refer to them..."salts."

3. Do the "running man" while playing Elefun.

4. Reload Elefun with butterflies.

5. And of course, some casual coloring.

Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful boy.

If you haven’t heard the song, Beautiful Boy, you should take a listen. John Lennon sang it originally to his son Sean, but there’s something about the Ben Harper version that brings me to smiling tears.

Out on the ocean sailing away
I can hardly wait
To see you come of age

Emerson turned two last week. He’s rounded the corner on toddlerhood, and is quite suddenly a little boy. He’s doing something new and different every day. He pieces words together to make clear statements, and often demands. He asks questions and has such a cool curiosity about him. He plays games and is terribly goofy, and finds humor in himself. He’s wild and fun, in the most lovable way. He has boundless energy, and keeps us on our toes. We, of course, would have it no other way.

But I guess we'll both just have to be patient

When you’re pregnant, you’re constantly told by people how quickly kids grow up, and how they can’t believe their son or daughter is already in high school, or college. Until that child is in front of you, knocking out birthdays, it’s hard to understand just how quickly it really does go. Emerson is so eager to do the next big thing. We, though, are so enjoying these little milestones and moments.

Life is what happens to you
While you're busy making other plans

It’s been a whirlwind of fun and activity the last couple of weeks with Emerson’s birthday, and our extended family vacation. We cherish every second of this time with our little boy. Our evenings are spent having as much fun in a few short hours as we can possibly tolerate. And the fun-filled weekends are aplenty.

Every day in every way
It's getting better and better

We’ve known Emerson for a couple years now. It’s so interesting though, to “get to know” Emerson. I feel like we’re starting to really see him as a person. His personality. His traits. His temper. And his generosity. There’s so much that we’ve been given in the last two years with Emerson, that I can only graze the surface of how lucky we feel to have such a beautiful boy in our lives.

Happy second birthday, Emerson. We love up to the moon, and down again. Around the world and back again.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy.

A 2nd birthday to remember

Emerson is such a lucky boy to celebrate his 2nd birthday twice! After the big party last weekend, we packed up and headed North! We had an overnight in Toledo, and then left early the next morning for Traverse City with the Zielinski-Zielinski-Jankowski families. Talk about packed cars! We stayed in Traverse City for the week, with day trips to Glen Arbor and the Dunes. Our days were filled with lots of swimming, bike rides along the water and way too much yummy food.

We celebrated Emerson's birthday, too! Lots of pictures below. I hope you can read the captions --- there were too many pictures to choose from!

OK. Now I just need to schedule a vacation to recoup from this vacation! ;)
