Well, it's 9:05am and we're home. We got to the surgery center at 6:30am for his 7:30am scheduled surgery - tubes in both ears. Em had fun with all the nurses, and loved pushing all the buttons - on everything. Pre-surgery, when it came time for his oral pain reliever and sedative, he spit out 1/2 to 3/4 of it. This what he now does with all antibiotics and tylenol. Our nurse kept telling him how "advanced" he was, and called him her "worthy adversary". No worries though, his anesthesiologist assured us he'd be well taken care of in the operating room, and they'd supplement anything he didn't get, back there.
Getting comfy in his gown and medical socks...

"oh...what's this?!?!"
Of course.
Must touch every button! After surgery, he woke up very cranky, and was nearly inconsolable for about 10 (very long) minutes. Emerson has never been a cryer, ever. So for him to be so upset for so long (long for us), was very upsetting. As soon as we got to the car, he settled right down, and was completely quiet for the short ride home. After some warm milk at home, and a few minutes in the rocking chair, he was out like a light.
Hopefully, this is the end of ear infections and antibiotics.
We'll keep everyone posted on recovery...
